Creating a beautiful vase is a challenge for many artists, especially if the vase is to be extremely large. Entry halls often have large vases that hold dried branches or tall flowers. They are breathtakingly beautiful when made of ceramics. These vases are often art objects all by themselves, but adding flowers or other items makes them useful and adds to their beauty. Creating large vases is not easy. It takes special skills. The artist may not be tall enough to reach inside the vase to properly mold it. They must learn to use wooden paddles to substitute for their hands while working the clay. Learning this method of clay takes plenty of practice, but it is a skill worth learning.
